Family Reunion At Platte River State Park

In the last week of June, 2009 we were thrilled to participate in a reunion of the Watt/Beezley/Hatten families. Actually, it's not a RE-union, because many of us have never met. In any case it was a delightful time together including over 50 participants.

Jon Beezley's Dissertation Approved

On Friday, April 10, 2009, Jon Beezley presented the defense of his doctoral dissertation in fulfillment of his PhD in Mathematics. His dissertation was approved and paves the way to expected graduation in May, 2009. Shown in this photo with Jon (center), from the left: Jan Mandel (Jon's adviser) then committee members Janice Coen, Doug Nychka, Andrew Knyazev and Tolya Puhalskii.

Jon's dissertation is titled "High-Dimensional Data Assimilation and Morphing Ensemble Kalman Filters with Applications in Wildfire Modeling". Congratulations Jon!
